BSNL and NRL sign MoU for India’s first 5G Captive Non Public Network

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) have signed an MoU to deploy India’s first 5G captive non-public network (CNPN) at NRL. As per the agreement, the joint implementation of 5G CNPN and Industry 4.0 solutions, including digital twins, augmented reality, virtual reality, mixed reality, internet of things, big data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI), will enable real-time monitoring, automation and advanced workforce training. The initiative was endorsed by officials from the Department of Public Enterprises and senior executives from BSNL, NRL and other central public sector enterprises. It is intended as a scalable model for roll-out across other industrial units to strengthen digitalisation, operational control and cybersecurity.
