The green hydrogen plant at Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh was inaugurated on August 17, 2025, with the green hydrogen produced at the plant aimed to be blended with the CGD network. The plant has been jointly developed by Torrent Power and Torrent Gas, and has an annual production capacity of 72 tonnes per annum (tpa). The green hydrogen produced at the plant is to be blended with natural gas in Torrent Gas’s CGD network in Gorakhpur for domestic households, with a concentration of up to 2 per cent. The plant is reportedly the first green hydrogen plant in the state and the largest green hydrogen and natural gas blending project in India’s CGD sector.
