Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran afoot to install ultrasonic AMR water meters integrated with SCADA system

Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) is afoot to install ultrasonic automatic meter reading (AMR) water meters integrated with a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system in HSVP’s staff quarters. The initiative intends to reduce water wastage, ensure effective monitoring and precise water billing. Initially, a total of 915 SCADA integrated ultrasonic smart meters will be installed for automatic detection of water leakage and wastage and continuous surveillance of the water network.

Further, the water meters will deploy LoRaWAN communication technology for remote monitoring and data transfer. The meters will have a rust-resistant brass body and a six-year long battery to ensure reliable and efficient performance. The batteries will be easily replaceable on the site and reduce maintenance time and cost. The SCADA software will play a pivotal role in the water system management through provision of real-time data, monthly billing, and individual consumption tracking to the consumers. It will also offer features like post-paid billing, optional remote valve operation and disconnection of water supply as required by the consumer. The smart water meters are likely to reduce manual intervention and water billing costs.
