DJB signs MoU with Airawat Research Foundation for developing AI-driven urban water management model

The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur’s Airawat Research Foundation (ARF) for developing an artificial intelligence (AI)-driven urban water management model for Delhi. Under the collaboration, DJB and ARF will use AI tools and the digital twin technology to monitor and manage the water systems efficiently. This is expected to reduce operational inefficiencies and water wastage.

Further, the deployment of an AI-based revenue management system is likely to improve billing accuracy, reduce overcharging and enhance transparency. Besides, an advanced grievance redressal system will allow consumers to lodge grievances and track the resolution status on a real-time basis. The initiative will also integrate AI-driven groundwater monitoring using data from borewells through sensors and satellites to enable sustainable water use across the city.
