The Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has deployed robotic technology to detect leaks and examine sewer pipelines in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The technology has helped to avoid costly excavations at 38 locations mitigating public inconvenience.
Robotic inspections have helped in the identification of more than 93 issues spanning blockages, structural defects and internal damage. Since the launch of the initiative, about 75 service requests have been received, 67 requests have been resolved and around 11 are still pending. BWSSB plans to expand the robotic inspections to other zones and reap the benefits of improvement in response time, lower costs and minimum public inconvenience.
