Engineers India Limited (EIL) has commenced site activities at the compressed biogas (CBG) plant located at the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) Halkarni Industrial Area in the Kolhapur district of Maharashtra. The plant is designed to have a capacity of 5 tonnes per day (tpd) of CBG. It will process around 125 tpd of press mud, which will be obtained directly from sugar mills and through aggregators, using bio-methanation or anaerobic digestion technology. The plant will also generate fermented organic manure (FOM) and liquid fermented organic manure as by-products. The CBG produced will be supplied to HPOIL Gas and offered for end use, particularly for vehicular applications, through HPOIL Gas retail outlets.
