The Delhi Jal Board has approved the deployment of 600 electric vehicles (EV) mounted with water tankers on January 21, 2026. Of the total EV water tankers deployed, 300 water tankers will serve residential areas identified as underserved or facing chronic shortages, while the remainder 300 will be deployed on a regulated fee basis for commercial and institutional users.
The new stainless-steel tankers will help preserve water quality and will be fitted with real-time GPS tracking and app-based monitoring to improve transparency and accountability.
