The government of Goa is considering a proposal to replace the manual water meters with smart meters under a public private partnership (PPP) model. The initiative is expected to aid bring down the current high extent of non-revenue water of about 40 per cent through reduction in water leakages and improvement in water billing accuracy.
The initiative will also act as a stepping stone towards achieving 24×7 water supply in Goa, alongside the introduction of a real-time water supply monitoring system.
