The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has rolled out an AI-based smart pump monitoring and optimisation system called IPUMPNET, across 78 pumping stations. The technology uses real-time sensors, AI and predictive diagnostics to identify inefficiencies and support the replacement of low-efficiency pumps.
Reportedly, the upgrade is expected to save over Rs 400 million annually in electricity costs and lower carbon emissions, positioning BWSSB as one of the first water utilities globally to adopt such advanced solutions at this scale.
