Phase I of the North East Gas Grid inaugurated

Phase I of the North East Gas Grid (NEGG) of Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited (IGGL) was inaugurated on March 13, 2026. The network spans around 553 km and traverses across Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. It will expand natural gas connectivity to the north bank of the Brahmaputra, and enable linkages with city gas distribution (CGD) networks, various industries, untapped gas reserves of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation and major consumers. The move marks a milestone in natural gas infrastructure strengthening in the north-eastern region. It has been implemented under the Hydrocarbon Vision 2030 for the Northeast, and is expected to provide better access to cleaner fuels and strengthen energy security across the region.
