The Chhattisgarh government has approved the Urban Gas Distribution Policy 2026 to improve PNG access, reinforcing the state’s commitment to India’s clean energy transition. The policy establishes a comprehensive framework for the phased expansion of city gas distribution (CGD) infrastructure. The move aims to enhance access to clean and affordable natural gas while providing an alternative to liquefied petroleum gas and strengthening pipeline-based gas supply. The initiative is expected to attract large-scale investment in pipeline construction, metering systems and operations management, and generate employment opportunities.
