The central government has laid the foundation stone for HPCL’s gas network in the Godda-Dumka GA in Jharkhand for the supply of CNG and piped natural gas (PNG). The gas network spread across 14,507 square km, entailing an investment of Rs 17.5 billion, is set to connect over 1.4 million households with gas supply in areas such as Godda, Dumka, Poriyahat, Shikaripara, Jarmundi, Mahagama, Pathargama, Jamtara, Mihijam, Pakur, Litipara and Sahibganj. In a separate development, the central government has inaugurated IOCL’s PNG project under the Deoghar CGD project. The PNG project spans three districts across 6,264 square km, aiming to extend its reach to over 0.6 million households. This initiative, entailing an investment of Rs 3.03 billion, is likely to provide PNG connectivity to around 30,000 families by 2027, facilitated by the installation of a 350 km medium density polyethylene pipeline network.
