The central government has approved sewerage and septage projects worth Rs 629.36 billion under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation [AMRUT] 2.0. Under this, 29,105 km of sewerage network and 5,791.94 million litres per day (mld) of sewage treatment capacity are being set up. Additionally, as of August 8, 2024, state water action plans for 8,205 projects have been approved under the programme. These projects are worth Rs 1,825.69 billion, including operations and maintenance costs.
