The micro Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL) and Nissin Electric Company Limited have signed a project agreement to commence a demonstration project to provide electricity from India’s first micro substation with a power voltage transformer (PVT) to ensure stable power for areas without a power grid.substation with PVT can convert high-voltage power from transmission lines directly into low-voltage power for residential consumers. The demonstration will feature a 100 kVA installation, stepping down power from 3-phase 66 kV to 1-phase 240 volts. The installation requires only 40 square meters of space, with customised electrical equipment, including protection and switchgear. This project is part of the international demonstration project on Japan’s energy efficiency technologies, supported by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization. This demonstration project is scheduled to run until FY2025. After installing and testing the equipment at a substation on the outskirts of Delhi, the company will start operations in March 2025.
