IoT-based sewage monitoring system developed by Osmania University in Hyderabad

The civil engineering team from Osmania University in Hyderabad has developed an internet-of-things (IoT)-based sewage monitoring system. The innovative system integrates IoT technology with sensors that detect advanced gas and sewage levels. The data collected through this system will be wirelessly transmitted to a cloud platform for real-time surveillance and necessary intervention. This makes the system capable of live-tracking instances of sewage overflow or blockages and release of harmful gases such as methane, ammonia and hydrogen sulphide and alerting the concerned authorities. This is expected to assure worker safety and effective urban waste management.
