India’s first offshore facilities decommissioning project completed

Shell, Reliance Industries and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited have successfully completed the country’s first offshore facilities decommissioning project. This project involved removal of five wellhead platforms, associated infield pipelines, and the safe plugging and abandonment of 38 wells from Tapti gas fields in the Arabian Sea. In March 2016, production ceased from the Tapti gas fields. The Panna-Mukta and Tapti JV, the operator of the field, has awarded the contract for offshore operations, while Chowgule Shipyard has handed onshore dismantling at Ratnagiri facility to Larsen & Toubro.
