Oil India Limited (OIL) and TotalEnergies signed a technology service agreement on November 19, 2025 to strengthen collaborations for exploration activities in deep and ultra-deepwater offshore frontiers of the Indian sedimentary basins, including stratigraphic wells as mandated by the Government of India. The move would leverage the expertise of TotalEnergies in deep and ultradeep water exploration value chain for the current and future offshore portfolio of OIL. As per the agreement, it will comprise of the ongoing appraisal of gas find in the shallow offshore blocks in the Andaman basin, exploration in OIL’s Open Acreage Licensing Policy (OALP) IX ultradeep water blocks in Mahanadi and Krishna-Godavari basins. It will also comprise of evaluating opportunities under the ongoing OALP X or future bid rounds, and supporting the stratigraphic well drilling initiative in offshore Category-II and III basins.
