The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has granted its authorisation to Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) for laying, building, operating and expanding the Kochi-Kanyakumari-Thoothukudi Natural Gas Pipeline. The proposed pipeline is set to start from the Kochi LNG Terminal in Kerala and would extend up to Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu. It is expected to have a length of approximately 425 km and a system capacity of 6.84 million standard cubic metres per day (mscmd), including the common carrier capacity. The pipeline is expected to strengthen the natural gas infrastructure in southern India, facilitate the expansion of the city gas distribution (CGD) network and enhance the supply of natural gas to downstream sectors.
