The Odisha cabinet has approved the Odisha City Gas Distribution Policy. The policy aims to fast-track the roll-out of piped natural gas (PNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) across the state. It eliminates the need for multiple clearances and creates a single, unified framework. A one-time moratorium has been provided on approval fees until March 2027. The policy is expected to encourage private investment, provide employment opportunities, and facilitate the expansion of the city gas distribution (CGD) network across more urban centres.
