STP inaugurated at Bellandur in Karnataka

The Karnataka government has inaugurated the 60 mld Koramangala-Challaghatta Valley STP at Bellandur. The plant has been developed by the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board. An investment of Rs 2.05 billion has been made in the STP, which has received financial aid from the Japan International Cooperation Agency. The plant will use activated sludge process with biological nutrient removal technology to treat wastewater in the Bellandur lake. It will also generate up to 1 MW of power as a by-product of the process.
