The public works department of Goa inaugurated the design, construction and testing of a 2 million litre per day sewage treatment plant (STP) at Patto in Panaji on February 6, 2023. In addition to treating wastewater from the Patto area, it will treat a part of the sewage from Mala. The new plant uses sequential batch reactor technology. Water treated by the plant can be used for gardening and flushing purposes. The STP is expected to cater to a population of 35,000-40,000 residents.
