The Ministry of Coal has launched the eighth round of commercial coal mine auctions. In this round, a total of 35 coal mines will be available, with 11 falling under the Coal Mines (Special Provisions) (CMSP) Act, 2015 and 24 under the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) (MMDR) Act, 1957. Additionally, four leftover mines from round seven will be offered in a second attempt – one CMSP mine and three MMDR mines.
